Privacy Policy
Last updated October 16, 2026
Piqtra is built so your creative work stays yours. This policy explains what information the Piqtra iPhone app and this website handle, and why. The short version: your photos, drawings and recordings stay on your device, unless you choose to use one of the optional AI features, which send the photo or description you provide to our AI provider to create a drawing (see section 3). We do not sell your data and the app does not include advertising or third-party analytics.
1. Information that stays on your device
- Camera. Piqtra uses your camera to show a live tracing view over your paper. The camera feed is processed on your device and is never uploaded.
- Photos you import. When you choose a reference image, Piqtra creates the outline and removes backgrounds on your device. Your images are not uploaded to our servers. The only exception is Photo to Guide, an optional AI feature that uploads the photo you choose after asking for your permission (see section 3).
- Recordings. If you record a drawing session, the video is saved to your Photos library only when you choose to save it.
- Projects, AI-made guides and drawings, favorites, settings, practice streak and onboarding answers are stored locally on your device.
2. Information processed by services we use
- Template library (Convex and ImageKit). To show and search templates, the app requests template information and images from our backend. These requests include what you browse or search for and standard technical data such as your IP address, which our providers process to deliver the content. They are not linked to your identity.
- AI drawing (Convex, Vercel AI Gateway and OpenAI). If you use Piqtra Pro's AI features, the photo or description you provide is sent through our backend and Vercel AI Gateway to OpenAI to create your drawing. See section 3 for details.
- Purchases (Apple and RevenueCat). Payments are handled by Apple; we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to check whether you have Piqtra Pro. RevenueCat receives a random, anonymous app user ID along with your purchase history and basic device information (such as app version, country and device model). See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Reminders. If you turn on daily practice reminders, they are scheduled as local notifications on your device.
3. AI features
Piqtra Pro includes two optional AI features that create line drawings for you to trace. They run only when you use them, and unlike the rest of Piqtra, they send what you provide off your device so it can be turned into a drawing.
- Photo to Guide. When you pick or take a photo for Photo to Guide, Piqtra asks for your permission before the first upload. The app resizes the photo (to at most 1536 pixels on its longest side) and sends it as a JPEG to our backend (Convex), which forwards it to OpenAI's image model through Vercel AI Gateway to create a line drawing. We do not store your photo on our servers. The finished guide and your photo are saved only on your device.
- AI Generate. When you describe a drawing, the text you type is sent the same way, through our backend and Vercel AI Gateway to OpenAI, to create it. We do not store your descriptions. The drawing is saved only on your device.
- Pro check and daily limit. When you use an AI feature, our backend checks your subscription status with RevenueCat using your anonymous app user ID. To enforce a daily limit on AI drawings, it records, for each request, that anonymous ID, the time, which feature you used, the AI model used and whether the request succeeded (with a short error message if it failed). These records never contain your photos or descriptions.
- OpenAI and Vercel. OpenAI receives the photo or description needed to create each drawing and may process and retain it under its own API data policies. Vercel AI Gateway relays these requests from our backend to OpenAI. See OpenAI's API data usage page and Privacy Policy, and the Vercel Privacy Policy.
4. This website
Our website is hosted on Vercel and uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to count visits and measure performance. These tools collect aggregated, anonymous usage data and do not use cookies to track you across sites.
5. How we use information
We use the limited information above only to provide Piqtra: delivering templates, creating the AI drawings you ask for, unlocking Piqtra Pro, restoring purchases, enforcing the daily AI limit, and keeping the app and website working. We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.
6. Data retention
Data stored on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall Piqtra. Purchase records held by RevenueCat are kept as needed to provide access to Piqtra Pro and meet legal and accounting obligations. AI usage records (section 3) contain no photos or descriptions and are kept to operate the daily limit. OpenAI's retention of AI requests is governed by its own policies.
7. Your choices and rights
- You can turn off camera, photo and notification access at any time in iOS Settings.
- The AI features are optional, and Piqtra asks before uploading a photo for Photo to Guide. The rest of Piqtra works without them.
- Deleting the app removes the data Piqtra stores on your device.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information. To make a request, email us and we will respond within 30 days.
8. Children
Piqtra is a creative tool suitable for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as Piqtra changes. We will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
